Our yearly animal art awards at the Association of Animal Artists, take place in a month long exhibition at The Station!
The Association of Animal Artists hosts two yearly physical exhibitions - one in the Spring and one in Autumn. As the secretary of the AAA I spend a lot of time helping to prepare the wall plans, emailing out entry forms, and delivering other member's work to help hang on the opening day.
It is a great honour to be a part of this exhibition, along with so many artists which I'm proud to now call friends, throughout the 6 years since my membership began. I'm thrilled to share both the work that I have had accepted into this years Autumn Exhibition, and the exciting news of my newly award winning piece "Afternoon Snooze".
The AAA's First Preview Night in Years!
First off, here are a few images from the preview night which took place last Thursday evening (25th September). This was actually the first preview night that the AAA has hosted in several year's, so it was an extra special one, with the added bonus of having our guest judges there (the renowned Anna-Louise Pickering, Stacey Moore, Lucy Pittaway and gallery manager Sarah Iveson) - Plus the wonderful folk from our Charity Partner "Wild Welfare" who were also in attendance! It made for a fantastic evening!

The Awards for the Autumn Exhibition 2025
Once I'd helped to sign all the paintings in and hang them all up on the walls, I headed off back to the hotel for a much needed nap! (I was actually full of a cold and very nearly didn't attend the preview night!)
I'm so glad I did attend in the end, as I was able to experience winning an award in person, live at the the opening night!
This year... I'm am incredibly proud (and still quite floored!) to announce that I have not only won the "Into the Wild" category (for any wild species), but also the overall "Best In Show" both for "Afternoon Snooze" - My original soft pastel of a sleepy Hyena.
The awards were selected by a panel of judges, recruited from outside of the AAA, who came into the exhibition shortly before preview, to spend time browsing all of the work on show, and every item in each category. The judges included Anna-Louise Pickering (daughter of renowned wildlife artist and conservationist Pollyanna Pickering), yorkshire artists Stacey Moore and Lucy Pittaway, and the gallery manager Sarah Iveson.
It was incredibly exciting!
The "Into the Wild" category also accounted for almost half of the entire exhibition... To win "Best In Show" amongst so much talent, genuinely blew my mind and was the last thing I expected to hear during the awards ceremony.
I want to send a HUGE thank you to the judges!
