The stunning Bohemian Waxwing is a rare winter visitor to the UK, delighting birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts with its occasional presence. In 2023, hundreds of waxwings migrated to feed on hawthorn berries around Halkyn Mountain in North Wales. This magical encounter inspired Sophie to capture their beauty in a wintry scene — a piece that also became a Christmas Card design (available here).
Winter Wanderer is an original pastel painting, created using a reference image by wildlife photographer Menno Schaefer of Wildlife Reference Photos (purchased with permission for artistic use).
Every detail has been hand-painted with professional, archival & lightfast soft pastel, ensuring both richness and longevity.
The artwork measures 28 x 35cm and has been professionally framed to a full outer size of 45 x 52.5cm. The bespoke white wooden frame is paired with a triple mount (the third hidden to collect any fallen pastel particles over time) and museum-grade anti-reflective ARTGlass which has additional UV protection, giving the piece both elegance and long-term protection.
Each original SP Wildlife Art painting comes signed by the artist and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, an artwork care guide, and a special collector’s package — including a random selection of SP Wildlife Art cards and bookmarks, plus a 20% voucher for use on future limited edition fine art giclée prints.

You have 14 days from delivery to request a return. If you're not completely happy with your purchase, you can return it in original condition and packaging — buyer pays return postage unless the item is damaged or faulty.
If your item arrived damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving the parcel. A returns label will be emailed to you, and we kindly ask for a photo of the damage and packaging if transport damage is visible.
Exchanges are welcome — if you're swapping by choice (not due to damage), you’ll cover return and re-shipping costs.
Refunds are processed within 14 days of receiving returned items.
